CHINA SELECT COMMITTEE LETTER
Today, members of the U.S. House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party sent a letter to the Secretaries of Commerce, Defense and Treasury asking them to investigate whether the activities of Chinese lidar companies justify their inclusion on the Commerce Department’s Bureau of Industry and Security Entity List, Defense’s Chinese Military Companies List, and Treasury’s Non-SDN Chinese Military-Industrial Complex Companies List.
Mark Paustenbach, Executive Director of the Coalition for Safe and Secure Technology, issued the following statement in support of the letter:
“We support these critical efforts by committee members to address the well-documented and significant national security threats posed by U.S. reliance on Chinese lidar technology. Questions regarding linkage to the Chinese government and military, data security, and the ability to map U.S. infrastructure are deeply concerning and warrant further investigation.”
